Old Photos of North Yorkshire 1
I have at my disposal a few old photos / postcards. I will try to post them as time permits but definitely more to come. The first two are turn of the century photos of Pickering and Sinnington.

This post card of Pickering Market Place must be from the early 1900's. You can see the Pickering Church spire in the background. The building at the top of the street is not there now but the street is still very recognizable today.

There must have been a Post Office at Sinnington at the beginning of the last century.

Pickering Town Football Club. I have no idea of the year or the names of the people. Perhaps someone will contact us to let us know.

These are the men that built Keldy Castle. It must have been a magnificent building in it's time but I believe it was dismantled during the Second World War - Just for the stone! This building was located where the Keldy Forest Cabins are now based. What a shame it was dismantled!

They seem to be have a great time at the Pickering Police Ball in 1933. It must have been quite an event in it's day. The venue looks like the Memorial Hall, Pickering.

Here we have the local transport in the main street at Cropton. You can see the village hall at the left hand site of the photo. The tree has now gone. Life must definitely have been at a much quieter pace in those days. Now we have 30 / 40 miles per hour restriction signs everywhere!

Rosedale Brass Band are pictured here. The photo was taken in the late 1890's. The only person currently known is a Mr.Tom Morley. He is in the second row and second from the left.
