Joyce Wright - 90th Birthday Party

On Tuesday 16th March the village celebrated the 90th birthday of Joyce Wright with a party in Cropton Village Hall. Joyce was very pleased to see all her many friends attending this special celebration.

Through family, Joyce has been associated with Cropton all her life and she came here when her late husband retired. She was joined at the party by her two sons, Alan and Terry, the latter travelling from South Africa to be with his mother and her elder brother Les.

Joyce is still very much involved in all aspects of village life, including the Women's Institute, Heritage Group and Village Hall. A 'faith tea' was provided by villagers and friends was greatly enjoyed before 'Night Owl', Arthur & Sheila, provided music for an enjoyable social with dancing.

Everyone enjoyed the birthday buffet. Especially Richard Peacock.

The images below are from Joyce's Birthday Card. Richard Peacock (above) illustrated the card. Notice the barrel of Vim & Vinegar on the right hand side. That must be the key to good health and a long life.

Richard drew balloons on the birthday card and placed the names of Cropton villagers on them.

Richard also composed a verse for the card.
