The Cropton W.I. meet on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings are normally at Cropton Village Hall and they start at 7pm. A notice board, outside the village hall, has details of each month's activities.

Visitors and New Members are most welcome to come along and join us.

A recent highlight of the Cropton W.I. was the winning of two cups at the local Ryedale Show. The Mrs. John Shaw Cup for co-operative effort was won and the Ryedale Challenge Cup (W.I. gaining most points in the W.I. section) was won again by Cropton. Twice in a row!!! Well done indeed.

There was a meeting on Wednesday 9th July. One of the highlights was a group photo of the present 2008 W.I. members.

On the 16th May 2008 the W.I. arranged a 'Brazilian Evening' for friends in and around Cropton. The evening started with a lovely Brazilian themed meal. A member of the Cropton community, Gerald Pearce, had visited Brazil and we were treated to an excellent slide show and talk from him. The evening was enjoyed by all.

The W.I. visited the farm of Philip and Nelly Trevelyan on Wednesday 11th June. The Trevelyans have an organic farm at Spaunton. The visit involved a walk and talk about the organic method of farming and it proved a very interesting evening.

ITALIAN EVENING
The ladies of the Women's Institute organised an Italian Themed Evening in the village hall on Tuesday 28th April. The evening started with a sumptious 3 course meal, which included some lovely variations of pasta dishes. Afterwards a local villager, Jane Patterson, gave a slideshow presentation and talk about her visits to Italy. The slides shown were from her Uncle's collection and they showed views from the 1950's. Coupled with Jane's knowledge of Italy it was a very interesting presentation. Top notch all round. Thank you ladies!

Here is a photo of the Cropton W.I. from the late 1980's, possibly early 1990's.

Here we have one of the exhibits from the classes where the W.I. won a trophy at the local Ryedale Show. The theme was 'The Musicals' and Cropton chose 'My Fair Lady'.
